Unlocking Opportunities: Navigating Continuing Education in Real Estate

Real Estate CE is a mandatory course for many state licensed real estate professionals that must be completed every two years to maintain the license. The requirements vary from state to state but generally require a minimum of 22.5 hours of approved courses for salespersons and brokers. Continuing education courses must be Department of State DOS approved and focus on topics that are relevant to the profession such as fair housing laws, advertising regulations, zoning requirements, legal matters, ethics and new developments in real estate law and regulation. Attorneys admitted to the New York State Bar are exempt from real estate continuing education requirements.

Getting a New York State Real Estate License

A New York State real estate license is an essential tool for anyone who works in the field of real estate. It gives the individual the ability to sell and purchase real property. The process of obtaining a real estate license is lengthy and requires extensive background checks, education and training. To be qualified for a New York state real estate license, the applicant must complete pre-licensing coursework and pass an exam.

There are many onlineĀ Real Estate CE schools that offer pre-licensing and post-licensing education. However, the school a licensee chooses to attend should be accredited by the DOS or the New York State Education Department NYSED. This accreditation ensures that the school adheres to state regulations and offers high-quality education.

Online schools that are accredited by the DOS or NYSED will offer a wide variety of real estate courses. They will also offer a variety of packages that can help a licensee meet all their education needs in one place. These packages will usually include core courses and elective courses. In addition to these packages, online schools will also offer specialized courses for individuals who work in the niche markets of commercial and residential real estate.

In Florida, real estate agents renew their licenses on an 18 to 24 month cycle. Agents must take 21 hours of CE, including 6 hours of core subjects, during that time. Our Florida CE packages and courses are all state-approved and can be used to fulfill your licensing requirements.

Kentucky real estate licensees must complete a 12-hour Core Course every 4 years as part of their CE requirements. The core course focuses on the makeup and powers of the real estate commission, licensing and education requirements, E&O insurance, contracts, agency, fair housing and more.

Nebraska real estate licensees need 36 hours of CE every three years. Associate Brokers need 45 hours, including 24 hours of mandatory coursework. Responsible Brokers need 53 hours, with 32 of those hours being required coursework.

When a licensee is taking courses for the purpose of meeting their continuing education requirements, they are legally required to keep detailed records of those courses. These records must be readily available in the event of a state audit. The best way to ensure these records are in order is to use an online real estate school that offers a complete CE solution, like Hauseit. By doing so, licensees will be able to rest easy knowing that they have met all their CE requirements.
